CeylonTripway
Discover the Beauty of Sri Lanka
A premium travel and tourism website designed to showcase Sri Lanka's destinations, curated tour packages, and travel experiences through an engaging digital experience.
01. Project Introduction
Overview
CeylonTripway is a Sri Lankan travel and tourism website designed to help international travelers discover the island, explore curated travel packages, and connect with travel specialists to plan their journeys.
The platform brings together destination discovery, travel inspiration, package exploration, itinerary information, and travel enquiries within one website.
The experience focuses on presenting Sri Lanka's cultural heritage, natural landscapes, wildlife, beaches, and local experiences through visually engaging content and a straightforward travel discovery journey.
The project covers the complete website experience, from brand direction and product planning to UX design, AI-assisted development, and implementation.
02. Problem Discovery & Industry Research
Understanding the Travel Discovery Experience
The first stage focused on understanding the challenges travelers may experience when discovering Sri Lanka and exploring travel opportunities online. We explored the information travelers need before choosing a destination, comparing tour packages, and contacting a travel company.
Destination Discovery
Travelers need an easy way to discover Sri Lankan destinations and understand the different experiences available across the island.
Fragmented Travel Information
Information about destinations, attractions, travel experiences, and tour arrangements can be spread across different platforms.
Tour Package Exploration
Travelers need clear package information, including destinations, duration, pricing, inclusions, and itineraries before making decisions.
Travel Planning Complexity
Organizing a journey involves coordinating destinations, accommodation, transportation, activities, and travel schedules.
Lack of Clear Package Information
Travelers need to understand what is included in a package and what arrangements require further confirmation.
Booking and Communication
Visitors need a convenient way to ask questions, discuss travel preferences, and communicate with travel specialists.
03. Solution Exploration & Reference Research
Exploring Existing Travel Platforms
After identifying the potential challenges, the next step was to explore existing travel websites, tourism platforms, and tour operator experiences. The objective was to understand how successful travel platforms present destinations, packages, itineraries, and booking information.
Areas Explored
Destination discovery and categorization
Travel package presentation
Package details and itinerary structures
Travel photography and visual storytelling
Package pricing and inclusions
Travel enquiry and booking experiences
Navigation and information hierarchy
Responsive travel website layouts
04. Product Requirements & Website Planning
Translating Research into a Complete Website Specification
After the research and reference analysis, we defined the complete website requirements. The objective was to establish the website structure, required pages, content, functionality, and user journeys before beginning implementation.
Brand & Product Objectives
Establish a premium Sri Lankan travel identity, present Sri Lanka as an attractive destination, make discovery straightforward, support package exploration, and encourage travel enquiries.
Target Users
International travelers; couples and families; adventure and nature enthusiasts; cultural and heritage travelers; and visitors interested in customized holidays.
Website Architecture
Define the main navigation, individual pages, shared components, and relationships between different sections.
Page-by-Page Requirements
Establish the purpose, content hierarchy, components, images, and actions required for each page.
Functional Requirements
Package exploration and details, destination browsing, travel guide content, travel date and guest selection, WhatsApp enquiries, and responsive navigation.
User Journeys
Define how visitors discover the website, explore destinations, review packages, and contact the travel company.
Visual Design Requirements
Define brand colours, typography, logo direction, photography style, spacing, and reusable interface components.
05. AI-Assisted Website Development
Generating the Website from a Comprehensive Product Prompt
After defining the website requirements, the next step was to translate the complete specification into a working web application using AI-assisted development. Rather than generating each page separately, the approach was to prepare one comprehensive master prompt containing the website's overall requirements.
The prompt provided AI with the complete product context, including the brand identity, target audience, page structure, content requirements, functionality, user journeys, and visual design direction.
Brand Identity
CeylonTripway's brand positioning, premium travel aesthetic, colour direction, typography, and visual identity.
Complete Website Structure
The required pages, navigation hierarchy, shared layouts, and relationships between different sections.
Page-by-Page Design Requirements
The content, sections, layouts, imagery, and components required for every page.
User Flows
The visitor journey from discovering destinations to exploring packages and submitting travel enquiries.
Functional Requirements
Package navigation and details, date and guest selection, enquiry actions, interactive components, and responsive behaviour.
Visual Design Direction
Nature-inspired colours, premium travel photography, clean layouts, typography, spacing, and consistent design components.
Technical Requirements
A React-based Next.js application with reusable components, structured pages, and responsive implementation.
AI Generation Approach
The complete specification was provided as one master prompt to guide AI in generating the website as a connected experience rather than creating individual disconnected screens. The generated implementation was then used as the foundation for the complete website.
06. User Experience Design & Information Architecture
Structuring the Complete Travel Experience
The website was organized to support different stages of travel discovery, from understanding the brand to exploring packages and contacting travel specialists.
