VisionCam
Retail Operations Monitoring Prototype
A web prototype for a multi-branch retail operations platform, bringing branch dashboards, incident review, camera-status monitoring, analytics views, and administrative settings into one interface.
01. Project Overview
About the Prototype
VisionCam demonstrates how a retail owner and a regional or area manager could review operational signals across stores, prioritize incidents, and inspect camera health.
The current experience uses sample data to demonstrate these workflows. It is not connected to real cameras, AI detection services, or a production reporting system.
02. Target Users & Main Journey
Who the Experience Is Designed For
The interface explores how retail owners and area managers can review operational information across multiple branches. The role and access controls are prototype UI and do not enforce permissions.
Retail Owner
Needs a cross-branch overview, visibility into high-priority incidents and camera availability, and a way to review trends and configure users or alert rules.
Area Manager / Regional Manager
Needs to focus on assigned branches, spot recurring operational issues, review incidents, and coordinate follow-up with branch teams. The prototype calls this role Regional Manager; branch-scoped access is not enforced.
Main User Journey
Start on the Dashboard and review branch status, active incidents, and camera availability.
Filter to a branch or use the summary cards and alert list to find an issue.
Open an incident to review its category, severity, branch, camera, sample evidence, and displayed delivery history.
Update the incident status, or mark it as a false detection and enter a reason.
Open the related camera panel to inspect its displayed status and sample view.
Use Analytics to explore sample trends by category or branch and export a demo CSV.
Use Settings to review alert-routing rules, user access, detection controls, and notification preferences.
03. Application Areas
What You Can Explore
The prototype brings the main retail monitoring workflows together. All displayed metrics and records are sample data.
Dashboard
Cross-branch summary cards, an urgent-alert list, branch status, incident trends, and issue summaries. Branch filtering is available; some metrics are fixed demo values, and the period filter does not affect every card.
Alerts & Incidents
Search and filter sample incidents by branch, severity, status, and issue type. Review an incident's details, sample evidence, and displayed delivery history, then try the available status actions. The period selector does not currently filter the incident list.
Camera Monitoring
Browse 60 sample cameras across 10 branches in grid or list layouts. Filter by branch, area, connection, and AI status. The live and review modes show illustrative stills and simulated recording interactions, not connected video.
Analytics
Explore overview, visitor traffic, queue, shelf, security, and camera-health views. Charts and the CSV export use demo data; the export does not reflect all selected filters.
Settings
Review alert rules, users and branch assignments, detection settings, and notification preferences. These controls demonstrate the intended interface and are not persisted to a backend.
04. Design & Implementation
A Clear, Consistent Monitoring Interface
The interface uses a light, Apple-inspired visual style with a system-font stack and Inter, blue primary accents, and reusable navigation and status components, cards, tables, dialogs, and charts.
The frontend prototype is implemented with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Lucide icons, and Recharts.
Design Principles
- Light, Apple-inspired visual style
- System-font stack with Inter
- Blue primary accent (#007aff)
- Reusable navigation and status components
- Cards, tables, dialogs, and charts

Demo Data, Not a Production Monitoring System
The prototype demonstrates the intended interface and workflows. It does not include production camera connections, AI processing, authentication, enforced roles, or persistent configuration.
Branch, camera, incident, analytics, delivery-event, and camera-image data are examples, not live store data.
The displayed live camera feeds are illustrative still images; recording timelines and detections are simulated.
User roles and branch assignments appear in the interface but do not restrict access. The signed-in user is currently hardcoded as an Owner.
Incident, user, and alert-rule changes are kept in app state and are not saved to a backend. Settings generally reset after a reload.
Analytics figures and CSV exports are demo data, not connected-store reporting.
